EMUE automates terminal and web processes by processing data from a file (often generated from a report) or a database, and then uses the instructions in an EMUEScript file to parse the data and execute a series of commands against the terminal or a web page. EMUE can also record information that it finds, as well as exception and error information into one or more output files for future review or processing.
Typical uses of EMUE include posting charges, remittances, and comments, performing master file maintenance, processing records to force documents to print, performing the interface work of retrieving and/or updating data to sychronize multiple systems, and automating repetitive user tasks. In addition to interacting with the terminal, EMUE Web can automate actions on web pages like logging into insurance web sites and retrieving or posting information.
As the diagram below shows, EMUE's extended capabilities allow it to do much more than terminal and web interaction. EMUE can move and copy files, send emails, run 3rd party programs, create multiple log files, read and write directly to databases, and much more. As a result, you can use EMUE to not only automate your scripts, but also automate the workflow, scrubbing, and prep work that you do manually before running a script as well as the post-script activities of archiving files and forwarding information onto personnel for followup. This means that just about any system task that you can break down into steps and define the logic for those steps can be scripted!
